ATV Mystery Shopping Guidelines

You may do this shop any time in between the start date and your due date. The day you select to do the shop will automatically become your due date; however, you may do it earlier than that. This shop can be done anytime the location is open according to Google and Apple maps. Please verify this before going, because some locations have different hours.
You can shop from opening to closing time.
Audio Record Shop
Please audio record your shopping experience when purchasing models for your 12-year-old, where legally permitted. Make sure to be aware of your state’s two-party consent laws before recording. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated! If your state is a two-party state, you do not need to record but make sure you take really good notes and follow the guidelines exactly.
How:
You can discreetly use your phone’s built-in voice recorder app or notes feature to record audio by placing your phone in your pocket or purse, ensuring it remains unobtrusive.
Why?
This is important because it protects you in case a dealer disputes the type of models they offer. Keeping these recordings for at least 45 days allows us to clarify any misunderstandings if they arise. Make sure to be aware of your state’s two-party consent laws before recording. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated!
Important Instructions for ATV Shopping
The ONE MOST important thing about this shop is to make sure they are NOT recommending adult size ATVs for children.
You MUST mention that your child/grandchild is a bit big for their age or say "that seems really small" to see if they still insist on showing you a youth model. You may use your own words here, but you must mention this.
Youth Model Inquiry
- If they recommend a youth model, ask something like, "My son is big for his age, is this vehicle going to be big enough for him?"
Safety Questions & Training Inquiry
- Ask: Are they difficult to ride?
- If they don't mention safety gear, ask about it. Say something like, "Should my kid wear any safety gear?"
- If they do not mention training, ask something like, "Do you offer teaching them to ride? I wouldn't even know where to begin teaching him how to operate this safely."
